China's Under Martial Law

China declares Martial Law on May 20th, 1989, and uses their army to put an end to the protests in Tiananmen Square. This is often referred to as the Tiananmen Square massacre.

There were many reasons for the protests there but most of the protesters agree upon the fact that the authoritarianism and economic structure that the government promoted was not right and that was the main issue they were protesting.

There are different numbers for the death tolls depending on who you are getting the information from, the range is from 200-3,000 deaths.
